Poker Chip Sets and Poker Table Strategy!

03 March 2008
The PokerPages industry index revealed a recovery in live poker in April. The analysts had predicted this recovery based on the introduction a new WPT events in Connecticut and at the Bellagio in Vegas. This evidence is contrary to the speculation of a general downward trend in live poker.
The live poker industry has seen a forty percent growth over April last year, measuring 140 on the PokerPages index. Forty five percent of April’s buy-ins were attributable to the World Poker Tour. Buy-ins reached all-time high levels at over $42m. Currently, live poker buy-ins have totalled $141m in 2006. April showed record levels of entrants into World Poker Tour events, with the majority of this growth attributable to non-series events. This represents an increase of 44% over last April recording almost 30,000 entries.
This is a fantastic signal to the game showing that greater numbers of players are entering from the ground up, leading to a growing base of players for the long-term. There has, however, been over a 10% fall in average buy-ins in the non-series games. This does lend further support to the possibility that greater numbers of players are coming from the ground up.

Poker Tip 11

Once you have control of a poker hand (specifically with A-K) after raising, after the flop it is likely that you will be checked to as the remaining player(s) will naturally be concerned about what you are holding. With the control fully automated, you can choose to either check and get to see the turn card for free OR you can try and steal the pot by buying the other player out (if you are confident with this read and know that his check is not a trap). We usually suggest playing aggressively if you want to regularly win more custom poker chips as this allows you to see where exactly you are at in the hand. Remember you can always fold if the other player has been trapping you with a check-raise and is actually sitting on trips or something!

So to summarize, scare away players before the flop with a raise of custom poker chips, take control of the action during the hand and use raises to find out where you are at in the hand by using the raises to take reads on your opponents. Always back up your pre-flop raise with a post-flop raise. This will stop you getting any ‘bad beats’! See the later news articles which talk about the value of A-K from early positioning. Best of luck and until next time may your cards be live and your pots be monsters!
